Which Foods Should You Choose Before Your Period?

Cramps? Mood Swings? The ultimate PMS?

Been there, done that. You don’t have to suffer and most definitely shouldn’t be worried about cutting out foods (*cough cough* you still need carbs). 

We are moving on and choosing the top foods to eat 1-2 weeks before your period even starts to make your dreaded period way better. All of this so that you aren’t lying on your bathroom floor wondering if this is how childbirth feels. 

These are foods including plenty of:

Magnesium: To minimize cramping, cravings, and mood swings

Potassium: To help refuel your electrolytes and hydrate

Healthy Fats: To keep you full and satisfied

Antioxidants:  To help your body fight off inflammation

Extra water: To keep you hydrated and keep constipation and cramping away

All of these things help to keep your body fully stocked on electrolytes, lower inflammation, and help your body feel nourished and happy so that you can have less pain, less mood swings, and more energy.  

So what foods should you be choosing?? Well I am all for fruits, veggies, all the colors and of course dark chocolate! 

But my top 6 are going to have to be…

If you have a sweet tooth like me, I highly recommend making a mix of dark chocolate, raspberries, and pecans and walnuts. Remember, it’s better to honor your sweet tooth and your body’s cravings when you have them, than to wait and wait and wait and turn your kitchen into a disaster zone looking for the cookies!
